Enhancing Rice Farming Through Agroecology-Based Rice Farming (AbRF)

The Department of Agriculture through its Rice Banner Program in partnership with the Local Government Unit of San Gabriel through the Municipal Agriculture Office, successfully conducted Session 1 of the Capacity Building on Agroecology-Based Rice Farming (AbRF) on July 8-10, 2026 at Barangay Lipay Sur, San Gabriel, La Union.
The training introduced farmers to Agroecology-Based Rice Farming (AbRF)—a nature-based and climate-resilient approach that promotes sustainable rice production through diversified farming systems. Participants gained valuable knowledge and hands-on experience on environmentally sound farming practices that improve soil health, reduce production costs, enhance productivity, and produce safe, high-quality food such as making Carbonized Rice Hull (CRH) and using Minus One Element (MOET)
This collaborative initiative reflects the shared commitment of the Department of Agriculture and the LGU of San Gabriel to empower farmers, strengthen food security, and build a more resilient and sustainable agricultural sector.
Together, we cultivate knowledge, strengthen communities, and grow a greener future for Philippine agriculture. 🌾🇵🇭
