- Balbalayang derived its name from a variety of banana known as balayang. Balayang has a lot of seeds and was abundant over the valley on this place called Dugadog. History research reveals that the inhabitants of this Barangay are from the interior parts of Ilocos Sur, Benguet, and Mountain Province who came in search for a better place to live in and to spread the sect Sagrada Familia. These early inhabitants colloquially refer to this place as “Kabalbalayangan” literally means a place with abundant Balayang, until it was changed later to Balbalayang.
